Carla Pierantozzi Design
Selected for Inaugural
Stage Design
August 11 2015
The main stage for TEDxMcAllen to be designed
by renowned Decorative Arts Figure Carla Pierantozzi.
McAllen,TX: The 2015 Board of organizers for TEDxMcAllen 2015 event are pleased to announce
that after an open call for stage design proposal, the centerpiece of TEDxMcAllen 2015 event will be designed by local and international decorative arts consultant Carla Pierantozzi. A graduate of Universidad de Buenos Aires, (UBA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The theme of "Breaking Borders" will be reflected visually using a number of elements designed to evoke emotion, thougth and inspiration, while paying tribute to our area and showcasing each speaker individually.
"We are delighted to be working with Designer Pierantozzi on the stage and set design. This element is quite literally at the center of our event so we needed to make sure that we had something that reflected our diverse culture and our vision for breaking borders, while not distracting the audience from the passionate speakers that will be featured.
We feel that this design not only accomplishes those goals but will be instrumental in keeping our theme current and in perspective, literally and figuratively, through the event" said Lucas Martinez Salas, Event Production Coordinator for TEDxMcAllen.
TEDxMcAllen is an independently organized event licensed by TED. The event strives to hold the ideals and maintain the quality that you find at a TED event.
The theme of the 2015 event is Breaking Borders. Though we regularly discuss our relation to our physical border with Mexico, a greater metaphoric exists. The goal of TEDxMcAllen is to expose those borders-commercial-technological, cultural- and highlight ideas that help us past them.
An open RFP process was made publicly available via online channels to any and all stage designers from the surrounding area, encouraging them to submit and be part of TEDxMcAllen. "The goal was to be as inclusive as possible. We wanted to make sure we gave everyone we could a shot at this" noted Drew Lentz, Curator and Licensee for the event. "Open submissions allowed us to put a personal touch on the event and really give the community ownership over it."
TEDxMcAllen is set to take place Tuesday, October 6th. For updated and current venue and ticket information, please visit www.tedxmcallen.us or e-mail info@tedxmcallen.us
